Initiative E+ Provides Vehicles for Chornobyl NPP Emergency Repair Teams in Kyiv

Initiative E+, together with its international partners Biler til Ukraine, has delivered two vehicles to support emergency repair teams from the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant currently operating in Kyiv.

The vehicles were provided as humanitarian aid to improve the mobility of specialists responding to the consequences of attacks on critical infrastructure.

Following repeated strikes on energy and infrastructure facilities, Kyiv has faced ongoing emergency situations requiring rapid technical response. At the request of several district administrations, Chornobyl NPP personnel joined emergency recovery efforts in the capital in early February. However, limited access to reliable transport significantly constrained the teams’ ability to operate efficiently.

The vehicle fleet of Chornobyl NPP remains limited and outdated. Some vehicles were damaged during the occupation, while others were reassigned to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In this context, the newly delivered vehicles will allow emergency teams to respond faster and work more effectively in high-risk conditions.

“The vehicle fleet of Chornobyl NPP is quite limited, and the war has only worsened the situation. Some transport was damaged during the occupation, while other vehicles were mobilized to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are confident that the assistance from Initiative E+ will significantly increase the efficiency of emergency recovery works in Kyiv,” said Serhii Tarakanov, Director General of Chornobyl NPP.

Initiative E+ also emphasized the symbolic timing of the delivery, which took place on 14 February.

“These are the times we live in, and these are the gifts we give. On 14 February, some people receive flowers or perfume. Our teams received vehicles. Two are for Chornobyl NPP emergency crews working in Kyiv to deal with the aftermath of attacks and accidents, and one was delivered to medical responders. The most important thing is that the vehicles work, start, and get where they are needed in time,” said Valentyna Varava, Chair of the Board of Initiative E+.

Supporting professionals who work daily with the consequences of war is a core part of Initiative E+’s mission. Through cooperation with international partners, the organization continues to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience and provide targeted, practical assistance where it is most urgently needed.
