Honouring Freedom and Strengthening Partnerships: Initiative E+ at the Anniversary of the Velvet Revolution

On 17 November, the Initiative E+ team attended an event dedicated to the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia — a historic moment that ended over four decades of communist rule and opened the path to democracy.

For the Czech Republic, this day symbolizes freedom, dignity, and the power of civil society. For us, it was an honour to participate in the commemoration and to personally express gratitude to the Czech people for their steadfast support of Ukraine.

Meeting with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ukraine, Mr. Luboš Veselý

During the event, we had the privilege of meeting the newly appointed Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Ukraine — Mr. Luboš Veselý.

Ambassador Veselý is an experienced diplomat with an extensive professional background. Before his appointment to Kyiv, he spent more than three and a half years serving as the Special Envoy of the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs for coordinating policy toward Russia.

Earlier, he served as Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Russian Federation, completing his mission early due to the hostile and destructive actions of the host country.

This is already his second diplomatic posting in Ukraine. From 2009 to 2013, Mr. Veselý worked at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kyiv as a political officer. Since then, he has spoken the Ukrainian language fluently — a gesture of respect that we deeply appreciate.

A Reliable Friend and Partner of Ukraine

The Czech people and government consistently demonstrate strong support for Ukraine in our fight against Russian aggression. The Czech Republic helps not only diplomatically, but also through humanitarian, medical, and social programs.

For Initiative E+, this is the third Czech ambassador with whom we have had the honour of establishing cooperation — and we are confident that this partnership will remain productive and meaningful.

Joint Projects That Make a Real Difference

Thanks to the support of the Czech Republic, we have already implemented several important initiatives, including:

  • MEDEVAC — a programme enabling Ukrainian doctors to undergo training and internships in Czech medical institutions;
  • Recreational camps for children who lost their parents as a result of the war;
  • various humanitarian projects aimed at supporting Ukrainian hospitals and communities.

More information about these and other initiatives can be found in the relevant section of our website.

Together, We Will Win

We sincerely thank the Czech Republic for its long-standing friendship, solidarity, and principled diplomatic stance.
The support of our partners is a vital element of Ukraine’s resilience.

Together — we will win. 🇺🇦🇨🇿
