In wartime conditions, the uninterrupted operation of medical facilities is critical — especially when it comes to providing mental health care. In February, Initiative E+, together with its Finnish partners Karavanen till Ukraina, delivered a 50 kW power generator to the Kyiv Municipal Psychiatric Hospital.
The generator will ensure the hospital’s continuous operation during prolonged power outages, allowing doctors and medical staff to continue treating patients even during blackouts. For a facility that works daily with people in acute crisis, stable electricity is not merely a technical issue — it is a matter of safety, predictability, and an essential part of the treatment process.
At a time when Kyiv residents have learned to live with blackout schedules and constant air raid alerts, such support is especially meaningful. Reliable power supply allows hospital wards to remain warm and lit, medical equipment to function properly, and patients to stay in a secure and controlled environment — conditions that are crucial for mental health care.
Hospital representatives emphasize that the generator is more than equipment. It provides confidence that even during extended blackouts, the facility will remain a point of support for thousands of people seeking help. In this context, electricity means far more than light — it represents stability, continuity of care, and a sense of protection.
The 50 kW generator was made possible thanks to the support of Karavanen till Ukraina, whose team raises funds, purchases equipment, and delivers it to Ukraine. This contribution is a clear example of international solidarity and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Ukrainian cities during the war.
For Initiative E+, supporting medical institutions — particularly in the field of mental health — is a core part of its mission. In a country living under constant stress, mental stability has become a strategic resource. That is why the organization continues to work systematically with international partners to provide practical assistance where it is needed most.
50 kW of electricity is 50 kW of care, international solidarity, and common sense. In February, it almost sounds like poetry.
